Oscar Wilde House Tour & Lecture
‘If you thought Oscar was wild, wait till you hear about the rest of the family, in this astounding, accurate and almost tangible evocation of the uproarious Wildes at home.’ … Philip Hoare, author of Wilde’s Last Stand
Oscar Wilde House is delighted to announce a special one-off Winter Pride house tour and lecture on The Lives of the Wildes by the OWH Creative Director on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 1 pm. Limited to 30 tickets.
The event will last around one hour and 40 minutes. As you explore our rooms and staircases, you will hear the fascinating history of the incredible Wilde family. Oscar Wilde’s parents, Jane and William, were both famous in their own right before Oscar was born. Our lecture tells a story of love, heartbreak, family tragedy, intrigue, court battles and sex scandals. You will visit Sir William Wilde’s library and the dining room where the Wildes hosted parties for many famous visitors over a 20-year period. The main lounge, which overlooks Merrion Square, is where Lady Jane Wilde, aka Speranza, held her celebrated salons every Saturday.
